Agatha Christie's Secret Retreat Harrogate

A new tour for 2012, we have a themed Agatha Christie break to Harrogate. Agatha Christie went missing for 11 days in December 1926 and the search for her created the biggest man-hunt of the time. Her mother had recently died and it was said that the author was also suffering with marital problems. Agatha checked into the Old Swan Hydro, as it was known then, under the name of Mrs Theresa Neal, her husband’s mistress.
Agatha enjoyed her stay joining in the dances, balls and Palm Court entertainment, until a musician recognised her and called the police. In 1977 Warner Brothers made a feature film called ‘Agatha’ starring Vanessa Redgrave and Dustin Hoffman. The film was shot on location at the Old Swan Hotel and in and around the historic Spa town of Harrogate.
We are staying at The Old Swan Hotel with themed entertainment each evening. During our stay we can explore Harrogate and the surrounding Yorkshire Dales countryside. |

Battle of Hastings Weekend

| Procession, Fireworks and Hastings Day |
We are going to Hastings for this unique event. 2 Day weekend staying at The Chatsworth Hotel. Our exclusive weekend visits Hastings for the mammoth bonfire procession and firework display on the seafront that celebrates Hastings Day.
The procession comes right past our hotel so we have grandstand seats for this colourful evening event and the spectacular firework display which the Bonfire Society spend many months planning and preparing for. Sunday 14th is Hastings Day as the anniversary of the Battle of Hastings, so after breakfast we visit the town of Battle itself where there are lots of activities to mark the occasion. Price includes coach travel from local joining points, 1 night Dinner, Bed and Breakfast at The Chatsworth Hotel and Sunday excursion to Battle. |

Week-end tour to the historic City of Cambridge. Saturday we will visit Ely with its magnificent Cathedral before continuing to Peterborough. Sunday we will have a guided tour of Cambridge and a 1 hour river cruise before free time in the afternoon to explore. Departing Monday we head to Oxford for lunch and free time, perhaps take the open top bus for a tour of the colleges. |
