Bruges, known as the ‘Venice of the North’ is like a city straight out of a fairy tale. A medieval town with picturesque cobbled lanes, meandering canals and photogenic market squares surrounded by historic churches and old whitewashed almshouses. There is a special charm here all year round.
Friday Following your local pick up we travel to Folkestone for our Eurotunnel crossing to Calais and then continuing into Belgium and our hotel in the heart of Bruges for the next two nights.
Saturday A full day at leisure to enjoy the delights of Bruges. There is a diverse range of attractions to enjoy today, treat yourself to a cruise along the canal and a ride in a horse drawn carriage. Meander the cobbled streets and find the Chocolate Museum and the De Halve Maan family brewery in the city centre, as well as enjoying the many shops bars, cafes and restaurants that make Bruges unique.
Sunday We depart Bruges after breakfast and cross the border into the Netherlands for a visit to Sluis. This typically Dutch town is a delight with its canal side setting, windmills, attractive architecture and excellent shops. We then return to Calais for our return crossing back to Folkestone and onward journey home.
