The North York Moors feature some of the UK’s most spectacular landscape, and we’ll be able to step back in time as we admire this stunning scenery from the comfort of the beautifully restored carriages on-board the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. This incredible steam train will take us through the wonderful countryside and will give us an experience like no other. We’ll also take a step back in time with a visit Eden Camp - once a wartime prison camp and now a fantastic museum dedicated to providing information about military and civilian life during World War II.
Sunday We collect you from home to join your coach to travel to York arriving late afternoon at Best Western Burn Hall Hotel.
Monday This morning we have included a relaxing trip along the River Ouse a chance for you to enjoy the historic City of York. Within its towering medieval walls is a heart of rich and colourful character, with its history recorded in the streets, buildings and museums gathered around the mighty Minster. You will have free time this afternoon to explore the many unique Shopping Districts and major tourist attractions that York has to offer, such as the Jorvik Viking Centre, York Minster and the world famous National Railway Museum (entrance not included). You may wish to use the land train which connects the centre to the Railway Museum (small fee payable locally).
Tuesday Today is your chance to explore Heartbeat Country. We have included a wonderful trip on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway from Pickering to Grosmont. This afternoon we travel to the historic coastal town of Whitby, with its famous cliff-top Abbey before making our way back to the hotel.
Wednesday This morning we include a visit to Eden Camp, an award winning visitor attraction which will transport you back to experience the sights, sounds and smells of wartime Britain. All within the grounds of an original POW camp. From here we visit the nearby town of Malton, the award winning Yorkshire food town. The pretty market town has an array of traditional food shops with butchers, grocers, deli’s and a fishmonger.
Thursday We depart after breakfast for our journey home with suitable stops en route arriving back in Wiltshire early evening.
