Chatsworth is the magnificent Derbyshire home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. It is a place of great beauty and history set amid breath-taking scenery. This special weekend break takes us to see the house all dressed up for the Christmas season. Decorated with foliage, lights and candles, as well as scenes to evoke the spirit of Christmas, the house is a superb Peak District gem. We also visit the delightful town of Bakewell for a little while. Here you have chance to browse around the shops and find that elusive present, or you can even sample the original Bakewell Tart, in the Original Pudding Shop.
Friday: Depart from your local pick up point and travel to South Yorkshire, arriving late afternoon at the Hellaby Hall Hotel for a two night stay with dinner, bed and breakfast. Tea/Coffee and biscuits served on arrival. There will be entertainment at the hotel on one evening of your stay.
Saturday: This morning we make the short journey to Bakewell where we have time to look around the town and enjoy a coffee break, perhaps with a slice of Bakewell Tart from the Original Pudding Shop. We leave around midday for Chatsworth House, delightfully decorated for Christmas, where you will have the chance to obtain lunch before exploring the house and the opportunity to visit the shop which will be well stocked with seasonal gifts. You may wish to end the day with a well-deserved cuppa in the café before we return to the hotel.
Sunday: After breakfast we leave and begin our journey home with suitable stops en route.
