For this autumn tour we are staying in the scenic Ahr Valley. The mild climate and low rainfall makes this an ideal autumn destination.

Romantics often call the Ahr Valley “The wildest daughter of the Rhine” as reference to the scenery, romantic course of the river, spectacular rock formations, idyllic castles and picturesque terraced vineyards.

Another new destination for Chandlers, this tour is based in the mountain resort of Seefeld, where you can stroll through the lively pedestrian area with its charming shops or enjoy an evening of entertainment in the casino, cafes & bars. You may wish to just relax amid the mountain scenery or perhaps take one of the hiking trails or swim in the outdoor pool !! We have included the following excursions : 
 

   
Bernina Express 
Davos, Switzerland 
Join us for this exciting tour to Switzerland and the mountain resort of Davos. The highlight of our tour is a spectacular ride on the Bernina Express train across the Albula pass – gigantic rocks and glacial snows, & the Bernina Pass, Europe’s highest, open, alpine rail-crossing all make for a memorable holiday.

German Christmas Markets 
Bonn, Cochem & Bernkastel-Kues 
Staying in the scenic Ahr Valley, with its mild climate and low rainfall. Romantics once called the Ahr Valley “The wildest daughter of the Rhine”, which is little wonder when you look at the scenery, with the romantic course of the river, wonderful rock formations, ruins, idyllic castles and picturesque terraced vineyards. Traveling out via Eurotunnel we go through parts of France & Belgium to Germany. Our excursions include a scenic drive to Cochem on the Moselle with afternoon at leisure in Altenahr. We have a full day in Bonn the former capital of Germany, where the Christmas Market is in full swing, along with a 280 square metre skating rink. Our other day excursion takes us to Bernkastel-Kues with its half timbered houses, narrow streets with their quaint romantic houses, making the perfect Christmas market setting. 
 

   
Glacier Express & Arosa Express

A wonderful new tour for 2012 where the highlight is a ride on the Glacier Express Railway from Brig to Chur, but there is much more, including a visit to the mountain resort of Zermatt, a ride on the magical Arosa Express Railway not to mention a visit to Lindau the picturesque historic town nestling on Lake Constance. Hidden Wonders of France

This fabulous tour delves into the many hidden wonders of Frances central south, an area of stunning natural sites, beautifully preserved cities and towns, fabulous authentic food as you remember the real France having, local traditional producers and retained customs. Discovering France’s hidden central Southern uplands is a real adventure that will excite and delight customers throughout their stay. On this trip you will take boat trips along gorges, see amazing viaducts, the world’s most beautiful accessible cave, wild upland scenery, crafts, cheese-makers, the scenic towns in France and not to mention a wonderful personalised welcome with local food and entertainment in your hotel. We will also visit the Tarn Gorge with the impressive Millau Viaduct, the highest bridge in the world, carrying the A75 Autoroute across the Tarn Gorge. 
 

   
Lake Garda

Always a popular destination with Chandlers Clients we are staying in the pretty resort of Riva del Garda at the North end of the lake. The stunning scenery of Lake Garda is beautiful at any time of the year, we have chosen early October for this departure to miss the crowds and heat!!We have two fairly long days to get there but onboard our extra leg room coach with hostess service it will be worth the journey and with our included excursions this is a value for money holiday.

 
 

   
Lakes & Mountains of Switzerland 
Lucerne 
New for 2012 we are staying on the edge of Lake Lucerne, surround by wonderful mountain scenery and lake views. For our outward journey we will travel over the Vosges range of mountains with lunch in the Alsace town of Colmar. Our return journey will take us into Germany for a lunch stop in Freiburg, on the edge of the Black Forest, before returning to Chalons-sur-Marne for our last night. 
 

   
Normandy Weekend 
Week-end Break 
Fri 14th September - Normandy Weekend – Friday to Sunday £119.00 We leave late afternoon on Friday and travel to Portsmouth for the overnight sailing to Caen on Brittany Ferries’ Mont St Michel with spacious cabin included. During the weekend we visit Sainte Mere-Eglise, the first town to be liberated by the Americans during the D-Day invasion, Ponte de Hoc, Omaha Beach, Bayeux, Longues sur Mer and Arromanche, site of the Mulberry Harbour. We also call at Sword Beach, taken by the British and Free French Armies on 6th June, and the Pegasus Bridge, taken and held by Major John Howard with his British 6th Airborne Division in their famous glider assault. On Sunday we visit the beautiful fishing port of Honfleur with free time for lunch. Late afternoon on Sunday we sail from Caen back to Portsmouth and on to our local area. We are staying in the centrally located Hotel Des Quatrans in Caen. Price is based on two people sharing a 4 berth cabin on board ship and a twin or double room in the hotel including breakfast. Price includes Chandlers coach travel, ferry with overnight cabin and hotel. Optional travel insurance £16.
