We explore Cheshire, Derbyshire and Greater Manchester with this tour including visits to Lyme Park, Chatsworth House, Quarry Bank Mill. We also relax on river cruise.

EXCURSIONS

A visit to Saltford Quays, a hot-spot of Manchester and home to many exciting attractions. From here we depart on a 60 minutes river cruise where we can relax and also learn about the history of the Manchester Ship Canal. In the afternoon we make our way to Quarry Bank Mill. Founded in 1783, the mill was built to harness the flow of the mighty river to power the mill, but it became home to a whole industrial community and is now “one of Britain’s greatest industrial heritage sites”

We have some free time at leisure in Chester. In the afternoon we visit Lyme House & Park, the film location for ‘Pemberley’ in the BBC adaption of Pride and Prejudice starring Colin Firth, which has made it one of the most famous country house images in England. Located on the edge of the Peak District nestling between moorland, Lyme Park is a magnificent estate.

A visit to the fabulous Chatsworth House, in the heart of the Peak District, where we have time to explore at leisure. En route back to our hotel we visit the market town of Bakewell, famous for its traditional Bakewell Pudding.
