Our exciting packaged tour is based at the Cumbria Grand Hotel, which is set in the fabulous location on the southern border of the Lake District. We enjoy a nostalgic journey through spectacular scenery on lovingly restored and maintained heritage railways, cruises on Lake Windermere and afternoon tea at a Leighton Hall.

OUR ITINERARY

THURSDAY – This morning we collect you from your home, bringing you to meet your tour coach as it makes its way to the Lake District.

FRIDAY – This morning we travel to Morecambe with a stop en route at the famous Carnforth Station Heritage Centre and Refreshment Room. Fully restored to it’s 1940’s glory when the Refreshment Room was used as the setting for David Lean’s “Brief Encounter”, where we enjoy the nostalgia of the station before we travel to Morecambe, where we have free time to stretch our legs on the famous Lancashire coast. Our final stop for today is the historic Leighton Hall, where we enjoy a guided tour and afternoon tea.

SATURDAY – This morning, we start with a return steam train journey on the Ravenglass & Eskdale Steam Railway from the coastal village of Ravenglass to the very heart of the Lake District, Dalegarth, where we disembark for a short break before our 40-minute return journey.

SUNDAY – We spend today in the Lake District. First, we make our way to Haverthwaite Station from where we enjoy a nostalgic steam train journey on the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway to the south of Lake Windermere and Lakeside pier. At Lakeside, we board our boat to enjoy a 40-minute cruise around the south of Lake Windermere. Arriving at Bowness, we spend a couple of hours here exploring over lunchtime before catching our last cruise north to Ambleside. On arrival we meet our coach and return to our hotel.

MONDAY – After a following breakfast we will board our coach and begin our journey south till we return to Wiltshire.
