The highlight of our fabulous Scottish west coast tour is a spectacular journey on the famous Jacobite Steam Train from Fort William to Mallaig, considered to be on the greatest railway journeys in the world. We also feature an exhilarating ride on the Britain’s only mountain gondola and a cruise on Loch Linnhe to Seal Island.

OUR ITINERARY

SUNDAY – This morning we begin our journey to our overnight hotel, making suitable comfort stops on route. Arriving in Gretna Green in the late afternoon with time to settle in before dinner.

MONDAY – Following our stay at our overnight hotel we will board the coach and continue our journey into Scotland till we arrive at Fort William.

TUESDAY – This morning we take a scenic drive along Loch Linhe to Oban, the unofficial capital of the West Highlands, acclaimed as the ‘Gateway to the Isles’. We spend the day at leisure exploring the town’s attractions, such as McCaig’s Tower & Battery Hill, Oban Distillery and the Oban War & Peace Museum.

WEDNESDAY – Today, we take a short ride on a gondola at Nevis Range. Britain’s only mountain gondola will transport us from 300ft up to 2150ft on the north face of Aonach Mor, the 8th highest mountain in Britain. During the short journey marvel at the stunning views of the Scottish Highlands, including Great Glen and Ben Nevis. We enjoy free time to visit the restaurant, take in the panoramic views and wander around the Mountain Discovery Centre before we return to ground level. In the afternoon we take the Loch Linhe, we cruise to Seal Island, we enjoy refreshments and live commentary en route from the skipper and hoping for a glimpse of the fabulous white-tailed Eagles, as well as the seals.

THURSDAY – Today, we embark on a journey described as the greatest railway journey in the world, on the famous Jacobite Steam Train, which will take us on a 84 mile return journey from Fort William to the fishing village of Mallaig, along the way we encounter spectacular scenery and travel across the Glenfinnan Viaduct.

FRIDAY - This morning we head back for our overnight stop, making suitable comfort stops on the way.

SATURDAY – Following breakfast at our overnight hotel we will board the coach and continue our journey home till we arrive in Wiltshire.

OUR HOTEL - BEN NEVIS HOTEL & LEISURE CLUB, FORT WILLIAM

Located on the north outskirts of Fort William, the Ben Nevis Hotel comprises a main building and a second building accessed by an external covered walkway. All 119 bedroom comfortable are traditional in style and equipped with a TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. There is no lift but there are ground floor rooms. There is a spacious, traditional restaurant, a sports style bar with comfortable seating, a separate lounge and an outside terrace.
